Sterile Processing Technician
Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician
Location: West Bend, WI 53095
Duration: 10/20/2025 01/16/2026
Shift: PM shift (2nd shift)
Schedule: 5x8 hr shifts, 40 hours per week. Weekends and on-call required.
Required Skills & Experience
-
Ability to read and write to comprehend and follow equipment operating instructions, IFUs, and complete documentation.

Basic arithmetic calculations to count instruments.
-
Basic computer skills.
-
Problem-solving and good communication skills.
Preferred Skills & Experience
-
One year of related healthcare experience Preferred.
Education
-
High School Diploma or equivalent Required.

Successful completion of Central Sterile coursework Preferred.
Licensure & Certifications
-
Certification in Sterile Processing Preferred.
Job Summary
-
Perform decontamination, processing, sterilization, and distribution of instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies.
-
Operate and monitor cleaning/sterilization equipment.
-
Maintain records in compliance with AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards.

Collect, sort, clean, disinfect, and inspect instruments, supplies, and durable medical equipment.

Assemble, wrap, and label surgical instruments and trays for sterilization and storage.

Operate, maintain, test, and document sterilizing and disinfecting equipment.

Identify appropriate cleaning and sterilization methods for processed items.
-
Perform and document biological monitoring of sterilizing equipment, follow protocols for failed biologicals.

Maintain aseptic technique in handling, preparation, and storage of sterile supplies.

Ensure a sanitary, safe, and clean environment in the Sterile Processing Department.

Deliver processed supplies and equipment to designated hospital departments.

Assist in the Endoscopy reprocessing department (as applicable).

Participate in training and orientation of new employees.

Report faulty equipment, safety concerns, and deficiencies to Sterile Processing Leadership.

Perform additional duties and/or projects as assigned.
