MRI Specialist

Contract Type: Staffing (10-weeks Contract)
Start Date: December 8, 2025
End Date: February 14, 2026
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Hours: 40 hours per week (8 hours per day)
Position Summary
The MRI Specialist provides high-quality imaging services and exceptional patient care in a fast-paced hospital setting. This role requires advanced technical knowledge of MRI physics and protocols, along with strong communication and customer service skills to support patients, families, and the healthcare team throughout the imaging process.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Safety

Confirms patient identity using approved identifiers and ensures all patient information is accurate.

Provides age-appropriate care for patients from infancy through adulthood.

Prepares patients for MRI procedures, verifying pregnancy and informed consent statuses.

Screens all non-MRI personnel before entering restricted MRI zones (III & IV) to ensure safety.

Anticipates and responds to patient needs throughout the imaging process, ensuring comfort and safety.
Clinical & Technical Duties

Checks exam rooms daily to maintain adequate stock and ensure smooth workflow.

Maintains inventory at established par levels and updates supply lists as needed.

Assesses potential contraindications such as medication reactions, lab results, or patient history.

Determines appropriate type and dose of contrast agent based on patient’s age, weight, and condition.

Independently performs MRI scans according to established protocols.

Operates MRI and related equipment, including R.I.S., PACS, and film digitization systems; troubleshoots equipment as needed.
Documentation & Communication

Accurately documents all procedures, contrast administration, and patient details.

Demonstrates professionalism and clear communication when interacting with patients, families, nurses, physicians, and administrative personnel.

Upholds confidentiality and compliance with institutional policies.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
-
Broad knowledge of MRI physics and procedures, including age-appropriate principles for all developmental stages (infant to adult).

Strong understanding of basic life support (BLS) principles and medical terminology.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Strong organizational and time-management abilities with a focus on patient-centered service.

Ability to use standard office and clinical equipment (fax, computers, scanners, etc.).

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Qualifications

Required:
-
ARRT (MR) – Registered Technologist, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)

Minimum 3 years of MRI experience

CMRT – Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (Texas Medical Board)
