Job Summary
The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for providing advanced respiratory care to patients with cardiopulmonary disorders. The therapist applies specialized knowledge of respiratory care practices, techniques, and equipment to assess, manage, and treat patients in accordance with physician orders and established institutional protocols. The position requires sound clinical judgment, effective communication, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Administer and manage respiratory care procedures, including oxygen therapy, aerosolized medication delivery, airway clearance, and invasive and non-invasive ventilation.

Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and assist in emergency situations as required.

Evaluate and interpret physicians’ orders and diagnostic test results to determine appropriate treatment plans.

Implement approved protocols under physician direction and adapt therapy as the patient’s condition evolves.

Educate patients and families on respiratory therapies and equipment use.

Monitor patient responses to treatment and make appropriate recommendations to the care team.

Accurately document all treatments, assessments, and related data in the medical record.

Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies (including HIPAA).

Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.

Participate in quality improvement initiatives and demonstrate ongoing professional development.
