Role Description Outage Group Construction Site Quality Specialist
CONSTRUCTION SITE QUALITY SPECIALIST (PROJECT LEAD)
Role Summary:
The Construction Site Quality Specialist (Project Lead) primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of the personnel assigned to work on his/her projects. The individual is to practice good environmental stewardship. The individual is responsible for implementing the assigned project safely, on time, and within budget to meet customer expectations. This will be accomplished by coordinating the work assigned to him/her. The individual will work with the Outage Manager, Outage Planner, Safety Specialist, Outage Scheduler, and other Project Leads to achieve their
objective. The individual is to direct resources to resolve any discrepancies regarding Safety, schedule, and budget while communicating any changes or departures from the original plan to the Outage Manager. The individual will assist the Outage Manager in identifying, avoiding, or mitigating any obstacles, threats, or interferences that would prevent successful completion of the Outage.
Responsibility:
- Ensure the Safety of all personnel supporting his/her projects. Must maintain awareness of the status of activities within scheduled work windows and resolves conflicts as they arise. To accomplish this, the individual must maintain a physical presence on the job site(s) for at least 80% of the duration of the project(s)
- Responsible for performing site construction oversight inspections to monitor the field quality of work and materials provided by vendors and
subcontractors
- Under the supervision of the Outage Manager and/or Project Manager,
inspects work quality and adherence to contract specifications to meet
regulatory requirements, codes and company standards using visual
observation, construction knowledge and application of skills. Ensure
Client is getting the products and services specified in the PO, and to
ensure the products and services will perform as required
Responsibilities include overseeing and monitoring the installation or
demolition of foundations, structural steel, pipelines and other mechanical/electrical items to support Capital Projects related to the generation of electricity
Any deviations from contract specifications or materials that are identified are to be reported to the Outage Manager/Site Construction Manager and/or project manager
Provide quality inspection reports/status updates to management upon request
or as needed. Provide feedback to contractors, engineers, safety personnel and general management concerning issues or concerns being encountered
Review and submit Daily/Weekly of all contractor/supplier Contractor
Charges Worksheet (CCWs), Time Sheets and Miscellaneous Contractor
Charges (MCCs), and then submit them to the Outage Manager or Planner as instructed
Know and apply the information in the Power Generation Outage and
Generation Projects Groups Contractor Leadership Safety Orientation Handbook (aka The Yellow Book)
Know and apply the information in the Power Generation Outage Group,
Project Lead Handbook (aka The Blue Book)
Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of power generation and environmental control
equipment
- General knowledge of construction and operational field work practices,
equipment utilization and work component scheduling
- Skilled in problem solving with great attention to detail. Skilled in comparing construction specifications and material requirements to physical and material work products
- Skilled in reading and interpreting manuals, technical instructions and
drawings, with an ability to accurately prepare brief written reports.
Demonstrates skill in planning, organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work to meet construction deadlines
- Skilled in the use of a personal computer, to include reasonable experience with the Microsoft Office fleet of software (i.e. MS Excel, MS Access, MS Word, MS Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to work effectively with management and co-workers and to make effective decisions
- Familiarity with OSHA scaffolding requirements and industry safety practices
Minimum HS Diploma Required
