Laboratory Operations Technician
Job Type: Full-time Contract
Duration: 6 Months+
Location: Lexington, MA
Start date: ASAP
Shift: 1st
Pay rate: $27.00/hr.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with 0–2 years of related work experience.

Responsibilities:

Laboratory Support Operations
Perform essential lab support tasks including washing glassware, media preparation, inventory tracking, package receiving and distribution, biological waste collection, and other assigned duties.

Experimental Assistance
Provide routine support for laboratory procedures as directed by scientific staff.

Microbiological Quality Control
Conduct basic microbiological QC procedures, maintain microbial quality control collections, and troubleshoot media discrepancies as needed.

Equipment Maintenance
Under supervision, identify equipment issues and coordinate diagnostics or repairs with appropriate personnel.

Media Inventory Management
Monitor daily media stock levels, prepare and replenish media as required, and ensure cleanliness of the work area.

Waste Handling and Documentation
Collect biological and chemical waste on a scheduled basis and maintain accurate records in compliance with safety protocols.

Shipping and Receiving
Receive incoming packages and distribute them appropriately; prepare and ship outgoing packages as needed.

Additional Duties
Perform other tasks as assigned to support laboratory operations and team objectives.




Qualifications and Requirements:

Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with 0–2 years of related work experience.

Technical Skills
Proficient in pipetting, sterile technique, and basic laboratory math. Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment is required.

Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and remain standing or walking for most of the shift. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Work Style & Adaptability
Capable of working independently and collaboratively in a team setting. Must be flexible and adaptable to changing schedules and responsibilities.

Communication & Attitude
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must demonstrate a proactive, “whatever it takes” attitude and a willingness to learn new tasks.

Compliance & Procedures
Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and apply technical skills with guidance in defined areas.

Certifications
RCRA, DOT, and IATA is preferred but not required for hire. Certifications must be obtained within 60 days of hire and will be sponsored by the hiring company.
