Pay Rate: $22/hr. on W2
Shift/Time Zone: First Shift
Float coverage between Avon, Bloomfield, Unionville, Bristol, Plainville; available Monday–Friday 5:30 AM–5:00 PM, alternating Saturdays
Job Summary:
The Phlebotomist III – Float represents the face of the organization by providing high-quality phlebotomy services to patients across multiple locations. This role requires drawing accurate, safe, and high-quality blood samples, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and ensuring all patient interactions are handled with professionalism, trust, and clarity.
This position includes leadership responsibilities, staff mentorship, onboarding support for new employees and clients, and serving as an on-site resource for operational questions or escalations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform high-quality venipuncture and specimen collection on diverse patient populations, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Prepare, label, and process specimens following established procedures and safety standards.
- Provide coverage across multiple locations and roles, ensuring all daily PSC/IOP/Mobile/LTC tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Create a positive patient experience by maintaining an atmosphere of trust, professionalism, and clear communication.
- Explain procedures clearly to patients and ensure accurate, safe blood collection.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors and support process improvement efforts.
- Serve as on-site lead when needed, directing daily workflow and supporting other Phlebotomists or PSRs.
- Mentor, coach, and train new employees; assist with onboarding for new clients or accounts.
- Act as the primary point of contact for staff and provide regular updates to the group lead or supervisor.
- Support high-complexity or high-volume practice accounts requiring advanced phlebotomy skills.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Sales, Lab Testing Services, Billing, IT, and Logistics to support specialty or complex test orders.
- Maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with all patient information guidelines.
- Manage multiple priorities in fast-paced, high-volume environments.
- Perform basic administrative tasks, including data entry and documentation.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical training (Medical Assistant, Paramedic) preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- At least 3 years of experience in a PSC or IOP environment preferred.
- Customer service experience (retail or service setting) preferred.
- Keyboarding and data entry experience required.
