Job Description

The Patient Services Representative (PSR) serves as the face of our organization for patients seeking routine healthcare or undergoing important diagnostic testing. The PSR is responsible for collecting high-quality blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis while adhering to established procedures.

This role requires direct patient interaction, the ability to create a trusting and confident environment, and skillful, safe, and accurate venipuncture. The PSR must demonstrate strong leadership behaviors, a commitment to process excellence, and strict confidentiality and accuracy with patient information.

PSRs may be assigned to a doctor’s office, a patient service center, or other locations as business needs arise.



Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily work activities accurately, efficiently, and on time, under the direction of the area supervisor.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.

  • Confidently perform both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing following established standards and procedures.

  • Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient initials/signature post-venipuncture to confirm that tubes were labeled correctly in the patient’s presence.

  • Maintain all required records and documentation.

  • Demonstrate organizational commitment by promoting a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the general public.




Job Requirements

  • 2–3 years of experience required.

  • Ability to produce high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.

  • Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric draws.

  • Flexibility to support staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime.

  • Commitment to all company policies and procedures, including dress code, Employee Health & Safety, and Everyday Excellence Guiding Principles.

  • Ability to make sound decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.

  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record (if applicable).

  • Ability to work flexible hours and cover multiple locations, sometimes with minimal notice.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.

  • Demonstrated superior customer service, open and transparent communication with colleagues and patients, adaptability to change, and understanding of company operations.

  • Training may occur at varying locations depending on trainer availability.




Additional Job Details

  • Candidate must have reliable transportation to/from the worksite. Public transportation, Uber, Lyft, and other rideshare options are not considered reliable.

  • Must be available for all scheduled shifts, consistently arrive on time, and remain for the full shift.

  • Excessive absenteeism or tardiness will not be tolerated and may result in termination.
