Pre-Analytical Assistant I
Job Title: Pre-Analytical Assistant I
Location: Miramar, FL
Duration: 12+ Months (with possibility of extension)
Shift: Tuesday–Saturday, 12:00 AM – 8:30 AM (rotational weekends required)
Job Summary:
The Pre-Analytical Assistant I provides essential support within the Technical Operations Department, focusing on specimen handling, processing, and compliance. This role is ideal for individuals with strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform manual specimen processing tasks including sorting, racking, centrifugation, aliquoting, and delivery to the laboratory.
- Identify and resolve issues related to specimen types, missing information, and compliance with test ordering regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation and meet quality and production standards within six months of training.
- Support departmental staffing needs including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime shifts.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area in a biohazard environment.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Medical background or familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
- Previous experience in a production or laboratory environment is a plus.
- Strong understanding of spoken and written English is essential.
- Must have reliable transportation (rideshare/bus not considered reliable).
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Comfortable wearing protective gear (lab coat, gloves, goggles, mask) when handling specimens.
- Must demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and flexibility in work assignments.
- Excessive absenteeism or tardiness may result in termination.
