Job Title: Patient Care Associate – Labor & Delivery
Location: Brooklyn, NY 11206
Duration: 3 + Months (Possibilities of Extension)
Pay Rate: $23.00 – $25.00/Hour (W2)
Shift: 11:30 PM – 8:00 AM
Schedule Notes: 5 days per week, 7.5-hour shifts (37.5 hours weekly). Every other weekend required. No work on recognized agency public holidays.
Job Summary:
The Patient Care Associate will work under the supervision of licensed nursing or clinical staff to assist with patient care and essential clinical support tasks in a Labor & Delivery environment. This role includes patient interaction, performing clinical competencies such as specimen collection and vital signs monitoring, supporting providers during examinations, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, patient sensitivity, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting.

This role includes patient interaction, performing clinical competencies such as specimen collection and vital signs monitoring, supporting providers during examinations, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, patient sensitivity, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities:
- Obtain and document vital signs, patient measurements, and specimens.
- Perform basic specimen screening and simple diagnostic testing (e.g., urinalysis, hearing/vision).
- Prepare specimens for lab processing and handle required documentation.
- Assist with patient preparation, dressing changes, wound care, and basic first aid.
- Support medical staff during patient examinations and procedures.
- Clean and sterilize instruments, equipment, and exam rooms.
- Perform EKGs, venipuncture, blood specimen collection, and fingerstick testing.
- Maintain accurate records, patient charts, and inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Interview patients to obtain routine medical and personal history.
- Escort patients to other hospital departments as needed.
- Operate CPR techniques and provide emergency basic life support when required.
- Participate in patient education and promote safe and healthy practices.
- Support orientation and teamwork initiatives within the department.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- NYS-approved Phlebotomy training program completion.
- Completion of a healthcare-based EKG and BLS training program.
- Certification in CPR.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor & Delivery.
