Specimen Technician
Job Title: Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I)
Location: Lewisville, TX
Shift: Sunday–Thursday, 9:30 PM – 6:00 AM CST
Duration: 3+ months
Job Summary:
The SPT I supports daily operations in a high-volume specimen processing department. Responsibilities include data entry, sorting, handling, and preparing laboratory specimens while ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with evolving regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform specimen processing tasks such as sorting, centrifugation, aliquoting, and delivery
- Accurately enter data (minimum 6,000 keystrokes/hour)
- Follow safety protocols in a biohazard environment
- Maintain organization, cleanliness, and productivity standards
- Adapt to changing procedures and customer demands
- Communicate effectively with team members
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer and data entry skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Flexibility for weekends, holidays, and overtime if needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Laboratory or healthcare experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Experience in a production or hospital lab environment
