Job Title: Pharmacy Technician I
Location: Remote - RI 02895
Duration: 3 Months+ and Possibility of Extension
 
Pay Rate: $20/hr. on W2

Training: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM CST for ~5 weeks
Post-Training Shift: Assigned 8-hour shift, Monday–Friday between 8:00 AM – 12:00 AM CST
Weekend Requirement: May be required after training
Shift assignments are not optional and determined by business needs post-training.
 
Position Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician I – Prior Authorization is responsible for handling inbound and outbound communications regarding prior authorization (PA) requests. This includes professionally assisting healthcare providers, pharmacies, and members through the criteria-based PA process, documenting all interactions, and escalating clinical or complex cases to pharmacists.
The role also includes processing fax/electronic PA requests, managing department inboxes, and assisting with various support functions as assigned by leadership.
 
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Handle high-volume inbound calls professionally from providers, pharmacies, and members regarding PA requests.
  2. Document reviews accurately and in a timely manner in compliance with regulations.
  3. Escalate clinical or judgment-based decisions to licensed pharmacists.
  4. Perform outbound calls as needed to follow up on faxed or electronic PA submissions.
  5. Monitor and respond to inquiries via email/mailboxes and support other administrative tasks (e.g., fax review, case maintenance, etc.).
  6. Collaborate with internal teams (pharmacists, appeals, case management) to resolve inquiries.
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Active Pharmacy Technician license in good standing (must provide proof with resume).
  • Minimum 6 months experience as a pharmacy technician (administrative/clinical support).
  • At least 1 year of call center experience, preferably in healthcare, PBM, or social services.
  • Strong written and verbal customer service skills.
  • Advanced computer skills (including MS Word, Excel, and multitasking between systems).
  • Comfortable handling high-volume, fast-paced environments.
 
Education Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED (verifiable)

    • Do you have a separate, private workspace with no interruptions?
  2. Training availability:
    • Do you have any time off planned during the assignment or training?
  3. Internet connectivity:
    • Do you have wired internet with at least 25 Mbps download / 3 Mbps upload speed?
    • (Attach a screenshot of a recent speed test)
  4. Work focus capability:
    • Can you sit and focus uninterrupted for your full 8-hour shift?
  5. Pharmacy Tech License:
    • Attach a copy of your active license showing it is in good standing and unexpired.
 
Notes:
  • This position is 100% remote but requires you to maintain HIPAA compliance at home.
  • Candidate must be flexible regarding assigned shifts post-training.
  • Candidates without required call center or pharmacy tech experience will not be considered.
