Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Job Location: Royal Oak, MI
Job Duration: 6 Months (possibility of extension)
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
Job Summary:
- Responsible for the accurate shipping, receiving, routing, documentation, and data entry of materials into and out of the Business Unit (BU), including on-site and remote facilities.
Key Responsibilities:

Receive, inspect, verify, process, and route all inbound materials to the facility and remote sites.

Enter all receipts accurately into the Materials Management software system.

Notify the Warehouse Manager of discrepancies between received materials and shipping documentation.

Prepare outbound shipments, including required documentation.

Manage Returned Goods in accordance with the Returned Goods SOP.

Deliver inventory to designated staging areas for internal departments.

Store materials in assigned locations and rotate stock by receipt date and expiration date (FIFO).

Identify and report short-dated materials (less than 30 days of shelf life) to the Warehouse Manager.

Assist with cycle counts and full physical inventory processes.

Support order entry, picking, packing, and delivery for internal and external orders as needed.

Assist with record storage and retrieval when required.

Support preparation, receipt, and distribution of internal, inbound, and external mail.

Analyze current warehouse procedures and recommend process improvements.

Comply with all Materials Management, Safety, Compliance, OSHA, CLIA, and company policies.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
-
High School Diploma or GED required.
-
Minimum of six (6) months of materials management or warehouse experience required.

High-volume receiving experience preferred (1–2+ years strongly preferred).

Data entry experience preferred.
Skills & Qualifications:
-
Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
-
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
-
Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping ability.
-
Proficient with computers, printers, and barcode scanners.
-
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) or equivalent systems.
-
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Physical Requirements:
-
Ability to lift and move up to 70 pounds.
-
Ability to perform physical tasks in a high-volume warehouse environment.

Ability to operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks; forklift experience helpful but not required.
Additional Job Details:
-
High-volume receiving environment.

Day shift, Monday through Friday.

Forklift certification not required.
-
Michigan State background search and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check required for onboarding.
