Med Lab Scientist 2
Medical Laboratory Scientist II
Location: Dallas, Texas
Assignment Type: Temporary, with Possibility of Permanent Hire
Length of Assignment: 13 Weeks
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM (40 hours per week)
Interview Process: Two Rounds – Virtual and Onsite
Travel Required: No
Pay Rate: $30–$35 per hour (W2)
Required Education / Certifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field
-
Preferred Certification: ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology)
-
Acceptable Alternative: AMT (American Medical Technologists)
Minimum Experience
-
Minimum of three (3) years of recent experience in a clinical laboratory setting
-
Experience with EPIC electronic medical record systems highly preferred
-
Experience with SYSMEX instrumentation preferred
-
Background in Hematology and Urinalysis required
Job Summary
The Medical Laboratory Scientist II performs, monitors, and validates a full range of complex laboratory testing and analysis to support the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The role requires a strong understanding of laboratory principles, independent problem-solving abilities, and strict adherence to quality and safety standards. The incumbent is expected to work with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy, reliability, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform laboratory tests and analyses in accordance with established procedures and regulatory standards.

Ensure compliance with quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control protocols.

Conduct routine and advanced maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments.

Accurately document and report test results in a timely manner.

Maintain appropriate inventory levels of reagents, supplies, and materials.

Communicate effectively with laboratory staff, other healthcare professionals, and external partners.

Participate in laboratory improvement initiatives, validation studies, and continuing education activities.

Demonstrate and train laboratory techniques and procedures to students or junior personnel.

Additional Information
This position primarily supports Hematology and Urinalysis testing departments. The role involves evening hours and may include occasional weekend or holiday coverage based on operational needs.
