Schedule Details:
  • Shift: AM
  • Schedule: 4x10s, Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Rotating Day Off
  • On-Call: Yes (Rotating)
  • Float/Weekend Requirements: Yes
  • Response Time Requirement: Must report and be ready for case within 30 minutes of call (drive, parking, walking included)
  • 50-Mile Radius Waived (Due to call requirements)
  • Scrubs: Provided by hospital
 
Job Summary:
The Interventional Radiology Technologist performs high-quality IR procedures under the supervision of a Radiologist for both ambulatory and inpatient populations. This role requires strong technical skills, trauma and neuro experience, and the ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced, Level I Trauma Center environment.
 
Required Certifications:
  • BLS (AHA only)
  • MRT (Texas Medical Radiologic Technologist License)
  • ARRT
 
Top Required Skills:
  • Minimum 2 years IR or Cath Lab experience
  • Body (Trauma) experience required
  • Neuro (Stroke) experience required
  • Epic experience preferred
  • Level I Trauma Center experience preferred
  • VI experience preferred
 
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Perform high-quality IR procedures per established protocols
  • Prepare and position patients appropriately for procedures
  • Maintain sterile field and adhere to infection control standards
  • Follow radiation safety and drug administration policies
  • Document procedures accurately in EMR
  • Maintain equipment functionality and report issues
  • Screen individuals entering department per policy
  • Provide patient education and ensure patient comfort
  • Participate in rotating call schedule
 
Key Competencies:
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Strong emergency response and first aid skills
  • Calm under pressure in trauma and stroke cases
  • Strong patient communication skills (AIDET approach)
  • Experience across multiple age groups (pediatric through geriatric)
  • Ability to serve as preceptor and mentor if needed
 
Work Environment:
  • Fast-paced, high-acuity setting
  • Exposure to radiation and invasive procedures
  • Level I Trauma Center experience strongly preferred
