Job Title: Phlebotomist II – Float
Location: Oakland Park, FL
Duration: 6+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift: Monday–Friday with Rotational Weekends | 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Job Description
The Phlebotomist II / Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as a key representative of our organization, interacting directly with patients who visit for routine health needs or critical diagnostic testing. This role requires the ability to draw highquality blood specimens, perform advanced specimen processing, and ensure all samples are prepared accurately for laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures.
The Phlebotomist II builds trust and confidence through excellent patient care, clear communication, and safe, precise venipuncture techniques. As a Float, this position requires traveling between multiple Patient Service Centers (PSC) and inoffice phlebotomy sites based on business needs, often with minimal notice. Reliability, punctuality, and adaptability are essential.
Under the supervision of the Area Supervisor, the Phlebotomist II performs daily operational duties with a commitment to accuracy, safety, and exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform highquality venipuncture and capillary blood collection for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Collect and process forensic and clinical specimens following established protocols.
- Verify patient identification and demographic information; confirm labeling accuracy and obtain patient signature postcollection.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment at all assigned locations.
- Handle highvolume patient flow while ensuring accuracy and patient comfort.
- Maintain detailed documentation, logs, and records as required.
- Travel as needed to cover multiple sites, including PSCs and inoffice phlebotomy settings.
- Deliver bestinclass customer service while demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and respect.
- Comply with all company policies, including dress code, employee safety, and performance standards.
- Communicate effectively and transparently with coworkers, supervisors, and patients.
- Support operational needs including weekends, holidays, oncall rotation, and overtime when required.
- Adapt quickly to changes in schedule, location, and patient volume.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Highlevel phlebotomy skills, including pediatrics, geriatrics, and capillary collections.
- Ability to provide errorfree work in a fastpaced, highvolume environment.
- Strong multitasking skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Superior customer service and communication abilities.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record required.
- Ability to travel between locations and arrive on time for all scheduled shifts.
- Proficiency in data entry, basic computer use, and electronic patient systems.
- Strong judgment and ability to follow established procedures.
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (REQUIRED)
- Medical training preferred (Medical Assistant, Paramedic, etc.)
- Phlebotomy Certification preferred
- Certification REQUIRED in: California, Nevada, Washington
Experience Requirements

1–3 years phlebotomy experience REQUIRED, including:
- Pediatric experience
- Geriatric experience
- Capillary collections
- 2+ years Patient Service Center experience preferred
- Strong customer service background preferred (retail or service industry)
- Previous experience working as a Float is a plus
- Keyboarding and data entry experience required
Float Position Requirements
- Must have reliable personal transportation (public transit, Uber, Lyft, etc., are NOT acceptable).
- Must arrive on time at any assigned site daily.
- Must stay for the entire scheduled shift without early departure.
- Excessive tardiness or absenteeism will result in termination.
- Mileage reimbursement is provided between sites only (not from home).
- Must maintain a clean driving record.
