Job Title: Business Systems Analyst
Job Location: Chattanooga, IN
Job Duration: 3-4 Months (possibility of extension)
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Consult with client management on approaches to address business needs or opportunities.
- Provide linkage and continuity between business units, development, operations, and technical support groups during testing and implementation of recommendations.
- Identify, review, and recommend solutions that increase process efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer service.
- Conduct research on software and hardware products to support recommendations and assist management with budgeting and purchasing decisions.
- Define complex information systems solutions to address business needs; initiatives are typically large in Product, cross-functional, and involve multiple platforms and technologies.
- Provide direction in assessing change impacts, defining business rules, and implementing solutions across broad functional boundaries.
- Operate at the highest technical level of most phases of systems analysis while considering business implications for current and future environments.
- Lead requirements analysis and verification, ensuring requirements are complete, consistent, traceable, feasible, and verifiable.
- Ensure requirements specifications are captured using standard templates and written in clear, concise, unambiguous natural language.
- Define quality attributes, external interfaces, constraints, and other non-functional requirements.
- Manage changing requirements by communicating impacts to project sponsors and team members, and alert project teams to potential risks and issues.
- Collaborate with technical and SQA teams to ensure project outcomes fully satisfy defined requirements.
- Anticipate and identify customer needs and align products and services to meet those needs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business and Information Systems partners.
- Identify and initiate opportunities to support business activities.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve requirements gathering, documentation, and translation processes.
- Apply knowledge of application development methodologies to business interactions.
- Serve in one or more project team roles, such as project lead, business systems analyst lead, or technical lead, for small to medium initiatives, or manage phases of medium to large efforts.
- Coordinate work assignments and verify results of other business systems analysts, applications analysts, or programming personnel.
- Instruct and validate the work of other business systems analysts.
- Provide services to multiple concurrent projects, project teams, or management groups.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent years of experience.
- Equivalent experience is defined as one year of technical experience for each year of college requested.
- Master’s degree preferred.
Certifications:
- Certification of Competency in Business Analysis TM (CCBATM) or Certified Business Analysis Professional TM (CBAPTM) preferred.
Experience:
- Five (5) or more years of experience in Information Technology and systems analysis.
- Experience leading requirements development efforts is required.
- Experience in the health insurance industry is preferred.
- Advanced experience in operational analysis, design, and understanding of integrated, interdependent, and interfaced systems and their impacts.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Expert knowledge of information technology concepts, application development methodologies, terminology, and standards to effectively engage in hardware- and software-related discussions across assigned projects.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and translate technical and complex concepts into information meaningful to project team members and business stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, organize, and prioritize multiple projects and associated resources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both technical and non-technical environments.
- Demonstrated negotiation, presentation, and facilitation skills.
