Lab Assistant

Location: Irving, TX
Duration: 3+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift: Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM (Central Time)

The Lab Assistant will support daily laboratory operations by performing routine tasks with precision and accuracy. This role is essential in assisting laboratory professionals and ensuring smooth specimen processing and testing workflows.

• Receive, sort, and prepare specimens for testing, including centrifuging, aliquoting, and labeling.
• Perform routine maintenance on lab instruments and equipment.
• Prepare reagents/media and assist with slide preparation and inoculation.
• Maintain accurate records, including temperature charts and specimen logs.
• Resolve pending lists, locate missing samples, and ensure proper specimen storage and retrieval.
• Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and biohazard disposal procedures.
• Conduct weekly radioactive wipe tests and change gas cylinders as needed.
• Operate laboratory computer systems and PCs for data entry and tracking.
• Maintain cleanliness and compliance in work areas through regular decontamination.
• Complete training and competency checklists as required.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical assistant training preferred.
• Background in math and science is beneficial.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and retain learned information.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a respectful and courteous approach to coworkers and customers.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and handle physical tasks.
