Job Title: Experimental Parts Coordinator
Location: Ankeny, IA 50023
Duration: 3 Months+ Contract (Possibility of extension)
Shift: 8-hour shifts, start/end times vary:
- 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Work Type: Full-time
Temp to Perm: Possible
Education & Certifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or BS Pharmacy degree required
- Active state Pharmacy license required
- BLS or ACLS required
- PALS required for pediatric practice
- Completion of required CE and competency assessments
Job Summary:
Pharmacists provide medication management services with compassion, accuracy, and efficiency. Responsibilities include preparing, dispensing, and monitoring drug therapy, providing clinical consultation, patient education, and supporting medication safety initiatives. Pharmacists serve in both clinical and operational capacities to ensure safe, appropriate, and cost-effective drug therapies.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Duties:
- Prepare and dispense medications per physician orders following established protocols.
- Transcribe and verify drug orders accurately into patient medication records.
- Compound sterile and non-sterile medications, including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition.
- Issue controlled substances and maintain legally required documentation.
- Supervise pharmacy support personnel and verify daily activities.
- Participate in ambulatory care services (anticoagulation management, discharge med reconciliation, medication therapy management, etc.).
- Monitor patient drug therapy for contraindications, interactions, and appropriateness.
- Assist with pharmacokinetics and renal dosing per hospital protocols.
- Provide drug information and clinical consultation to practitioners and patients.
- Conduct clinical interventions (IV to PO conversion, renal dosing, pharmacokinetics support, anticoagulation therapy).
- Participate in quality improvement programs, antibiotic/opioid stewardship, and shortage management.
- Attend interdisciplinary rounds when assigned.
- Potential exposure to hazardous drugs, biologic material, and sharps.
- Risk for musculoskeletal injuries if proper lifting/carrying techniques are not used.
Required Experience & Skills:
- Hospital experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of clinical pharmacy practices and hospital protocols
- Excellent communication skills with healthcare teams and patients
- Ability to work independently and adapt to variable shifts
- Strong attention to detail and safety in medication handling
