Registered Dietician

Job Title: Registered Dietician
Location: Bronx, NY 10451
Contract: 3 Months+ (Long-term contract - up to 1+ year)
 
Shift: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM.
Pay range: $50 – $55/hr. on W2

Job Summary:

• Monitors patients for and provides education on food/drug interactions.
• Records food and drug interactions in the education section.
• Consults with physicians regarding appropriate diet modification.

Job Responsibilities:

• Screens and assesses patients in an accurate and timely manner based on levels of care; determines patients' nutritional needs and status and provides follow-up care.
• Interviews patients and/or their families to obtain history of food habits and preferences.
• Interprets pertinent laboratory, physical and social data in the medical record, as it applies to nutrition care.
• Provides nutrition education and records patient's diet and diet instructions and the patient's understanding of the diet in the education section.
• Modifies patient menus as needed.

Skills:

• Required Skills & Experience: Minimal one (1) year of experience.
• Preferred Skills & Experience: Two (2) years of experience.

Required Education:

• Graduate from accredited college/university with a degree in Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition.
• Preferred Education: Master's degree.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• For post-acute locations: New York State Certification, issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a “Dietitian-Nutritionist”.
• For acute locations: Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian Primary Source Verification - Required.

 
Preferred Certifications & Licensure:

• AHA BLS.

 
Special Note for Dietitians assigned to Post-Acute Care (Long-Term Care) facility:

• Under the Medicare and Medicaid Programs, Reform of Requirements for Long-Term Care Facilities, as outlined in Section 483.60 of Title 42 of the Code of Federal Regulations, all newly-hired Dietitians assigned to a Post-Acute Care (Long-Term Care) facility are required to have New York State Certification, issued by the NYSED, as a “Dietitian-Nutritionist” at the time of hire.

Schedule Hours Per Week: 40.00.
Schedule Hours Per Day: 8.00.
Schedule Notes: This manager is asking for outpatient experience and also experience with dialysis patients.
Schedule Days Per Week: 5.00.
