Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Duration: 3 months 
Location: Fairfax VA
Shift: 8-3 Mon – Thur. and 8-1 on Fri.


Job Summary:

The PSR II serves as the face of the company to patients. They are responsible for drawing quality blood samples, preparing specimens for lab testing, and delivering excellent patient care. The PSR II maintains professionalism while performing clinical and forensic specimen collections, ensuring accuracy and safety according to established procedures. They may be assigned to doctor’s offices, patient service centers, or other locations depending on business needs.




Key Responsibilities:



Patient Interaction & Specimen Collection:

  • Create a welcoming, trustworthy environment for patients.

  • Explain procedures clearly to patients.

  • Perform venipuncture and specimen collections, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.

  • Verify and label specimens in the patient’s presence; ensure signatures and demographic information are accurate.



Specimen Preparation & Processing:

  • Prepare specimens for transport to labs according to established guidelines.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and required records.



Operational Duties:

  • Perform daily tasks accurately and on time under supervisor direction.

  • Maintain a safe and professional environment at all times.

  • Follow forensic and clinical specimen collection procedures consistently.

  • Travel as needed to various sites (PSC/IOP) with minimal notice.




Skills & Competencies:

  • Superior phlebotomy skills (pediatric & geriatric experience required).

  • Ability to work independently and in high-volume settings.

  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and prioritization skills.

  • Excellent customer service and communication.

  • Capable of exercising good judgment and decision-making within established guidelines.

  • Embrace change and demonstrate flexibility in scheduling.




Job Requirements:



Education:

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent..



Experience:

  • Required:

    • Minimum 3 years phlebotomy experience.




Schedule & Availability:

  • Must be flexible: weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime may be required.

  • Available to work whenever scheduled.

  • Must be punctual and stay for the full scheduled shift.

  • Excessive tardiness or absenteeism is cause for termination.




Additional Notes:

  • Training may take place at different locations depending on trainer availability.
