Job Title: Patient Services Representative II (PSR II)



Job Summary

The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the primary point of contact for patients, representing the company with professionalism, accuracy, and compassion. This role is responsible for performing high-quality blood specimen collection and processing while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality. The PSR II creates a positive patient experience by explaining procedures clearly, performing venipuncture skillfully, and maintaining strict adherence to established policies and procedures.

Under the direction of the Area Supervisor, the PSR II performs daily activities accurately and on time while demonstrating leadership behaviors, process excellence, and superior customer service. Assignments may include doctor’s offices, patient service centers, or other locations based on business needs.




Key Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and specimen collection (clinical and forensic) in accordance with established procedures

  • Collect specimens from pediatric, geriatric, and adult patients using safe and accurate techniques

  • Prepare, process, and package specimens for laboratory testing

  • Verify patient demographic information and ensure proper specimen labeling in the presence of the patient

  • Obtain patient signatures post-venipuncture to confirm correct labeling and identification

  • Maintain accurate records and required documentation

  • Ensure compliance with patient confidentiality and data accuracy standards

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment

  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors and promote organizational values

  • Provide exceptional customer service and create an atmosphere of trust and confidence

  • Work independently with minimal on-site supervision

  • Travel to and support multiple locations, including Patient Service Centers and in-office phlebotomy sites, as required

  • Adapt to changing schedules, staffing needs, and business priorities




Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)

  • 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections

  • Ability to perform quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills

  • Ability to make sound decisions using established procedures

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Keyboarding and data entry proficiency

  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if applicable)

  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, overtime, and varied schedules

  • Ability to travel and work at multiple locations with minimal notice




Preferred Qualifications

  • Medical assistant or paramedic training

  • Phlebotomy certification (required in CA, NV, and WA)

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a Patient Service Center environment

  • Customer service experience in a retail or service setting
