Job Title: Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I)
Location: Miramar, FL 33025
Duration: 3 Months+ (Contract With possibility of Extension)
Shift: Primarily Night Shift (weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed)
Position Summary:
The SPT I supports the Specimen Processing Department with critical data entry and specimen handling tasks. This role requires accuracy, speed, flexibility, and a strong understanding of specimen types and compliance regulations, which may change frequently. The SPT I works in a fast-paced production environment, contributing to customer satisfaction through timely and quality processing of specimens.

Position Summary:
The SPT I supports the Specimen Processing Department with critical data entry and specimen handling tasks. The SPT I works in a fast-paced production environment, contributing to customer satisfaction through timely and quality processing of specimens.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform specimen processing functions including A-station, presort, specimen pickup and delivery to laboratories, imaging/microfilming, centrifugation, and aliquoting.
- Enter data accurately and efficiently, with a minimum typing speed of 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.
- Maintain good organization and adapt to daily changes in test ordering and compliance regulations.
- Work in a biohazard environment while practicing all safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and compliant work area.
- Demonstrate flexibility to meet production demands, including working weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer skills; familiarity with laboratory testing/specimen processing preferred.
- No prior experience required; medical or laboratory background, medical terminology knowledge, or hospital lab experience is a plus.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from worksite (bus, Uber, rideshare are not considered reliable).
- Ability to work full scheduled shifts, arrive on time, and maintain consistent attendance.
- Excellent command of the English language, both spoken and written.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
- Ability to wear required PPE (lab coat, mask, goggles, gloves, protective wear) when handling samples.
Additional Notes:
- This is a heavy production site with repetitive tasks; efficiency and attention to detail are essential.
- Excessive absenteeism or tardiness will result in termination.
