Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Hours Per Week: 40
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of recent Medical Assistant experience
Hourly rate: $21/hour Negotiable
Role Overview:
The Medical Assistant will work under the supervision of physicians and clinical staff to support both clinical and administrative functions. The role involves direct patient care, clerical support, EMR documentation, and ensuring exam rooms and medical equipment are properly maintained, all within a dynamic outpatient internal medicine setting.

Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support
- Assist with patient care tasks including venipuncture, EKGs, vital signs, transferring, walking, dressing, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing
- Prepare exam rooms, assist physicians during procedures, and relay patient instructions
- Set up instruments per sterilization and infection control protocols
- Maintain logs (e.g., crash cart, refrigeration, point-of-care testing)
- Check and dispose of expired medications and supply according to policy
- Comply with PPE standards and infection control regulations
- May assist with surgery scheduling, consents, and chart preparation
- Enter orders or refill requests in EMR for physician approval
- Retrieve/send medical records, lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referrals
- Complete forms and requisitions, manage and maintain patient charts
- Update and verify patient demographic and insurance information
- Schedule and confirm appointments and procedures
- Perform insurance pre-certifications when necessary
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized clinical environment
- Follow institutional safety, legal, and regulatory procedures
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive office atmosphere
- May perform proficient phlebotomy
- Answer patient calls and provide accurate information
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Education: High School Diploma or GED

Certification:
- Medical Assistant Certificate from an approved program (Required)
- BLS Certification (AHA required)
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Effective communication with multicultural and non-English-speaking patients
- Strong interpersonal and telephone etiquette
- Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and medical terminology
- Familiarity with EMR and billing systems (preferred, not required)
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic and evolving environment
