Job Summary:

The program director will address the smoking cessation support for Tennessee residents with the highest burden of tobacco and vape use by supporting the implementation of evidence-based interventions, convening stakeholders, and incorporating epidemiologic data to reduce the incidence and burden statewide.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide subject matter expertise related to the identification, implementation, and evaluation of tobacco and vaping cessation programs.
- Supervise the Pregnancy Smoking Cessation Program Director 1.
- Develop and deliver training and orientation for new program staff.
- With guidance, grow and support the implementation of the nicotine replacement therapy program in the local and metro health departments, and other funded partners.
- Oversee, manage, and develop contracts with the Quitline service provider, the Tennessee Primary Care Association, and other new cessation-related contracts.
- Participate in budget development and monitoring to ensure appropriate expenditure of funds.
- Provides technical assistance to grantees and partners across the state that are delivering evidence-based tobacco and vape use cessation programs.
- Communicate program procedures to staff and stakeholders.
- Plan and implement diverse professional development opportunities that meet grantee needs.
- Collect and maintain accurate grantee data and other related statistical information for state and federal reporting.
- Produce and disseminate tobacco control resources and materials.
- Work with the Tobacco epidemiologists to use data to enhance community tobacco control program planning.
- Engage community stakeholders in tasks related to accomplishing goals and objectives of the Tobacco Use Prevention and Control Program.
- Participate in regular division, section, and TUPCP program meetings.
Education and Experience:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in public health, education, or a related field and experience equivalent to five or more years of full-time, increasingly responsible professional health program work, including at least two years of full-time supervisory work or statewide program oversight.
Work Arrangement and Schedule:
- This hybrid position has in-person attendance expected for the first day of employment for laptop deployment and onboarding in Nashville, TN.
- Required in-person attendance for quarterly meetings, and other in-person may be required for other meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Travel to Nashville will not be reimbursed; however, travel for site visits may be reimbursed by the state.
- Position is renewable through 2027.
- Position is full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
- Weekly work schedule is Monday-Friday from 8:00AM to 4:30PM, with no overtime allowed.
