Location: New York, NY
 Department: – Urology
Shift: Days (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Hours: 40 hours/week, 8 hours/day, 5 days/week
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Pay Rate: $21/hour negotiable

Role Overview
The Surgical Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all operating room (OR) surgeries and procedures. This role ensures efficient workflow in the front office, verifies patient information, obtains insurance pre-certifications and medical clearances, schedules procedures and follow-up visits, and serves as a liaison between patients, referring physicians, and surgeons. The coordinator also trains and mentors junior staff and maintains accurate records in the electronic medical record system (CERNER).

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate scheduling for all OR surgeries and procedures, ensuring optimal workflow.
  • Verify patient demographics and obtain pre-certification from insurance carriers.
  • Ensure patients have completed necessary medical clearance prior to surgery.
  • Resolve patient questions and concerns regarding policies, procedures, and scheduling.
  • Make surgical confirmation calls one day prior to scheduled procedures.
  • Schedule post-operative follow-up visits with providers.
  • Serve as a liaison between referring physicians and surgeons for communication of clinical data and OR scheduling.
  • Train and mentor other Surgical Scheduling Coordinators or less experienced staff.
  • Collect and distribute appropriate paperwork to internal and external parties to coordinate surgeries.
  • Record hospital reservation and pre-admit data accurately in the CERNER system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Certifications
  • Required: High School diploma
  • Preferred Certifications: Medical Terminology, ICD-9, CPT Coding
Experience & Skills
  • Minimum 2 years of surgical scheduling experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
