Job Description:
- This role requires a blend of hands-on technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership in guiding database best practices, architecture decisions, and optimization initiatives.
- Design, install, configure, and maintain enterprise-level database systems (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.).
- Monitor database performance, tune queries and indexes, and manage storage to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and backup/recovery processes meet organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to database architecture, standards, and procedures.
- Lead initiatives related to database migrations, upgrades, and consolidations.
- Collaborate with developers, data analysts, system administrators, and other IT staff to support application development and data integration.
- Activities include environment setup and IIS settings for security and performance for applications.
- Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (e.g., ETL, PowerShell, cron jobs).
- Manage network demands and requests with provider to ensure Agency complies with State government regulatory standards.
- Participate in capacity planning and disaster recovery strategy development and testing.
- Ensure compliance with data governance and data privacy regulations.
- Provide 24/7 support for mission-critical systems as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
- Strong collaboration and leadership capabilities.
- DBMS: Proficiency with Microsoft SQL
- Operating systems: Familiarity with Windows Server and Linux/Unix environments.
- Scripting: Client scripting, PowerShell, or similar for automation.
- Backup/Recovery tools: Experience with native and third-party tools.
- Performance tuning: Ability to optimize queries and server resources.
- Security: Knowledge of access controls, encryption, auditing.
Preferred:
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Microsoft SQL Server
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes.
- Experience with .Net programming languages (C#) .
- Experience with network Firewalls.
- Experience with PowerApps, Power BI Services, Power Automate.
