Duties and Responsibilities:
- The nature of the work is focused on designing innovative and visually appealing materials as well as styling and curating existing materials for various footwear projects.
- Blend artistic skills with technical knowledge to design materials that enhance the overall aesthetics and functionality of footwear.
- Collaborate with project teams to understand functional specifications and end use.
- Build consumer right materials solutions that elevate projects, informed by trend, material properties, industry and consumer/athlete insights.
- Present materials palettes, concepts and mood boards to key stakeholders and leadership at key gates.
- Utilize design software and tools to create and refine material concepts.
- Create prototypes and hand samples to test ideas.
- Collaborate cross-functionally across multiple teams to integrate materials seamlessly into the overall design solution.
- Consider factors such as form, function, and manufacturing processes.
- Stay informed about sustainable and eco-friendly materials.
- Integrate environmentally responsible options into design considerations and recommend alternatives that align with sustainability goals.
- Create comprehensive design CADs/Techpacks to communicate design to factory and suppliers for sampling.
- Typically requires a Bachelors Degree and minimum of 5 years directly relevant work experience

One of the following alternatives may be accepted:
- PhD or Law + 3 yrs.
- Masters + 4 yrs.
- Associates degree + 6 yrs.
- High School + 7 yrs.
- Designers will have access to a makers space (Client), where there is equipment to make small samples which will be part of the role.
- Use of sewing machines, heat-presses, screen printing and other techniques that are avail to the designer.
- These tools wouldn’t be used daily but would be more mapped to projects as a way to illustrate concepts and ideas, test aesthetics, etc.
