Duties & Responsibilities:
- To provide for the efficient processing of instruments and sterilization throughout Client
- Processes decontaminated medical devices as they are received, according to established priorities, medical device IFU’s and best practices.
- Receives instruments from the decontamination area and processes appropriately.
- Performs physical and environmental duties as designated on a routine daily basis, including but not limited to cleaning work space/instrument room/cabinets, emptying biohazards waste, monitoring sterilizers, and checking environmental monitors.
- Completes sterilization processes.
- Performs high level disinfection.
- Performs other duties as assigned, including other essential instrument room duties.
- Required - CRCST - Cert-Cert Reg Cent Ser TECH International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management.
- Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician issued by The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution.
- CST-SUR - Cert-Cert Surgical TECH National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting OR National Center for Competency Testing.
- Educational program completion for surgical technologists which may include operating room/surgical training completed in the army, navy, air force, marine corps, or coast guard of the United States or in the United States Public Health Service- REQUIRED.
- 2 years Experience as a surgical technologist and has experience in two or more surgical specialties- REQUIRED.
- Knowledge of a wide variety of instrumentation used in the operating room and throughout the Hospital.
- Ability to operate all OR sterilization and processing equipment, to prioritize and organize, and to work independently with consistent supervision.
- Steam, EO, and low-temp sterilization systems.
- Washer/disinfector operations.
- Ultrasonic cleaners.
- Biological and chemical indicator testing.
