Job Description:
The Phlebotomist II, also referred to as Patient Services Representative II (PSR II), is the frontline contact with patients, responsible for drawing quality blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory testing. The role demands adherence to established procedures, strong communication skills, and the ability to create a trusting and professional environment for patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric patients.

Job Description:
The Phlebotomist II, also referred to as Patient Services Representative II (PSR II), is the frontline contact with patients, responsible for drawing quality blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory testing. The role demands adherence to established procedures, strong communication skills, and the ability to create a trusting and professional environment for patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draw blood samples skillfully, safely, and accurately, following established practices.
- Explain procedures to patients to foster trust and confidence.
- Verify patient demographic information and ensure proper labeling of specimens in the patient’s presence.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Perform both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties.
- Maintain a safe, professional, and positive working environment.
- Demonstrate leadership and process excellence, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Handle multiple priorities efficiently in a high-volume environment.
- Flexible to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
- Travel between multiple locations and cover various Patient Service Centers or In-Office Phlebotomy locations with minimal notice.
- Follow company policies including dress code, employee health and safety, and guiding principles.
Required Education & Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (REQUIRED).
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years phlebotomy experience including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Minimum 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
Additional Requirements:
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric patient care.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if applicable).
- Ability to make sound decisions based on established procedures.
- Superior customer focus with transparent communication skills.
- Ability to adapt and embrace change quickly.
