Software Engineer – GitHub Administrator
About The Role
We are looking for a junior software engineer to join a platform team that administers a large, complex GitHub environment for engineering teams. The engineer will help administer and support the GitHub platform and help create automation for the team.

Working with engineering, operations, and security teams, you will identify and resolve issues and inefficiencies in delivery. Key responsibilities include creating software automation with GitHub APIs and integrations with internal tooling, improving governance of GitHub, and helping users with GitHub-related questions.

Our team includes DevOps and infrastructure engineers, system administrators, and senior software engineers in the technology division. You will work on small and large projects with other engineers on the team.

Responsibilities

• Help administer the GitHub environment for thousands of software developers.
• Design and build automation to manage the developer experience, implement security controls, and build self-service tooling.
• Use GitHub's API for automating tasks and integrate with other systems.
• Help develop and enforce best practices for securing code and maintaining privacy in repositories.
• Provide support to engineers, and help write documentation for the team and our users.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise in the day-to-day management of the organization's GitHub environment.

 
Qualifications:
We are looking for a software engineer who has worked with Python and is familiar with CI/CD and GitHub.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related

• field, or equivalent work experience.
• 1-2 years of experience as a computer software engineer.
• Must have experience programming with Python.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate effectively with people in technical and non-technical roles.
• Familiar with Git, version control, source code repositories, branching, pull requests, and merging.
• Exposure to CI/CD practices and tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and Artifactory.
• Basic knowledge of the Linux operating system, Bash scripting, and computer networking.

Additional desired, but not required, skills and experiences:

• Experience programming with another high level language like Java, Node, Golang, or Groovy.
• Experience with observability tools like Splunk, New Relic, or SignalFx.
• Knowledge of computer security and privacy, user identity, permissions, and SSO.
• Software testing frameworks and test automation.
• Familiar with Docker and containerization.
• Experience with AWS cloud computing, including EC2, S3, load balancers, Lambdas, and IAM security.
• Experience with infrastructure as code tooling like Terraform or AWS Cloud Formation.

Please note that Dim the Lights will be week of 05/26-05/30 and this person will most likely not work that week. We will determine start also around this timeframe that would work best of all parties.
 
Entry level role - Open to new grads but if they have some internship experience or project experience with Python, that would be desired
 
Will be working with a team of senior engineers that will be looking to them for support. Willingness to learn will be needed.
 
Strong communication skills as this person will need to help with GitHub platform within Client and other people may need assistance with program and they may come to this person for help.
 
Two rounds of interviews:
1st with manager
2nd possible panel interview with other engineers
