Duration: 6 + Months (Possible Extension)

Job Summary:
- Responsible for leading, planning, administering, and overseeing the activities of the payroll operations team.
- This includes developing and coaching direct reports, setting departmental goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, and providing oversight of a complex centralized payroll program.
- The role ensures timely and accurate payroll processing and tax reporting while maintaining compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local tax laws.
Essential Functions:
- Lead a team while performing all management duties, including budgeting, hiring, performance reviews, coordinating and scheduling work, salary recommendations, employee development, leadership, grievance resolution, coaching, counseling, and consistently modeling core values.
- Stay current with governmental regulations and ensure compliance related to wage and hour laws, garnishments, deductions, benefits, retirement, fringe benefits, time off, and other payroll requirements.
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends and best practices, applying them to maintain payroll integrity.
- Oversee payroll operations to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Hold the team accountable for excellent customer service and resolve escalations as needed.
- Ensure proper filing of all tax returns and compliance with reporting requirements, including state wage detail reporting, new hire reporting, and W-2 preparation.
- Monitor accuracy and ensure deadlines are met.
- Implement, document, and continuously improve payroll processes, including document retention, manual checks, overpayments, manual deductions, gross pay calculations, deferred compensation, garnishments, levies, child support, relocation payments, etc.
- Serve as a champion of change.
- Evaluate and improve audit processes, disaster recovery planning, and record retention procedures.
- Establish and execute an annual payroll plan (including year-end activities) in collaboration with Finance, HRIS, IS, and other key stakeholders.
- Act as a consultant internally and externally (including audits and legal counsel).
- Evaluate and audit payroll program specifications within technology systems.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Human Resources, or Accounting.
- 7+ years of direct payroll experience.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience.
- 3+ years of experience in a fully automated time & attendance/payroll environment within a large, multi-site organization.
Preferred:
- 1+ year of experience with Workday, ServiceNow, and API.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
