Phlebotomist I
Job Title: Patient Services Representative I (PSR I)
Location: Carmel, NY
Duration: 1 - 2 Months with Possibility of Extension
Pay Range : $17.00/hr - $21.00/hr on W2
State of Credentials Licenses Required: NY state Phlebotomy certificate
Shift/Time Zone:7am -3:30pm Monday to Friday every other Saturday 8am-12pm
Position Overview:
The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the first point of contact for patients seeking medical services. The PSR I is responsible for efficiently and accurately drawing blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring both patient safety and specimen quality. This role demands a combination of technical expertise in phlebotomy, exceptional customer service skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to established procedures.
Key Responsibilities:

Specimen Collection & Processing:
-
Draw blood samples from patients (including pediatric and geriatric patients) with skill and accuracy.

Ensure all blood samples are properly labeled, processed, and prepared for laboratory analysis.

Maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment for both patients and staff.

Patient Interaction & Communication:

Establish a trusting rapport with patients, explaining procedures and alleviating concerns.

Demonstrate confidence and professionalism in all patient interactions.

Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the specimen collection process.

Operational Excellence:

Perform all duties with accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail.

Adhere to all operational protocols and safety standards.

Meet or exceed daily goals and targets for specimen collection and processing.

Record Keeping & Documentation:

Maintain and update patient records and documentation with accuracy.

Ensure compliance with all confidentiality requirements and regulatory standards.

Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.

Compliance & Safety:

Follow all workplace safety procedures to ensure a secure environment.

Comply with all regulatory and company policies regarding patient care, confidentiality, and specimen handling.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
-
Phlebotomy Expertise: Proficient in performing blood draws for a diverse range of patients (pediatric, geriatric, and adult).

Medical Training: Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.

Certification: Phlebotomy certification is preferred and required in specific states (California, Nevada, Washington).

Customer Service Experience: Prior experience in a customer-facing role, such as retail or service environments.

Data Entry: Strong keyboard and data entry skills.

Work Flexibility: Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with variable hours, including weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime.
Educational Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Medical Assistant or Paramedic training is a plus.
Preferred Experience:

At least 6 months of experience in phlebotomy.

One or more years of experience in a similar role is preferred.
