Specimen Technician - 3rd Shift
Job Title: Specimen Technician- 3rd Shift
Job Location: Greensboro, NC
Job Duration: 3 Months of contract
Shift: Monday- Friday 10:00 PM – 06:30 AM EST.
Pay range: $19.78/hr. on W2
Position Summary:
The Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I) provides essential support within the Specimen Processing Department. This role requires strong data entry skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, production-driven environment. The SPT I plays a critical role in ensuring specimen integrity, accuracy, and timely processing to support high-quality patient care and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general support functions including:
- A-station processing
- Presorting specimens
- Pickup and delivery of processed specimens
- Imaging/microfilming
- Centrifugation and aliquoting
- Ensure all tasks are completed with accuracy, efficiency, and within established turnaround times
- Maintain a high level of organization while handling multiple specimen types and test requirements
- Accurately perform high-volume data entry (minimum 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour)
- Follow all safety, compliance, and regulatory guidelines, including adapting to frequent updates
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Communicate effectively with team members and other departments
- Demonstrate flexibility to meet changing workflow demands and customer needs
Work Environment & Requirements:
- Production-based laboratory environment with emphasis on productivity and quality standards
- Exposure to biohazard materials; adherence to safety protocols required
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Must be available for night shifts, weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- Basic computer proficiency and data entry skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic work environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of laboratory testing or specimen processing
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Previous laboratory, hospital, or production environment experience
