High Level Project Overview:
The Generation Project Leader will support the Generation Project Manager overseeing the replacement of the existing Main Condensers in both operating nuclear units at Surry Power Station. Each Main Condenser is comprised of four heat exchanger tube bundles. The inlet and outlet water boxes for each tube bundle will be replaced as part of this effort. Planned approach entails structural reinforcement of each Main Condenser Client, removal of the inlet and outlet water boxes, demolition and removal of the existing tube bundles, rigging and insertion of replacement modular tube bundles in the main condenser Client, installation of replacement water boxes and reconnection to existing support systems. This role will support the project manager for this Product of work.
Responsibilities:
Ensure capital projects are executed with Safety and Environmental Compliance as the primary focus of all personnel supporting his/her projects.
The Construction Leader is expected to maintain a physical presence in the field for at least 80% of the duration of the workday and address issues as they arise with the contractor and project management team.
Responsible for performing site construction oversight inspections to monitor the field quality of work and materials provided by vendors and subcontractors.
Under the supervision of the Construction Manager and/or Project Manager, inspects work quality and adherence to contract specifications to meet regulatory requirements, codes and company standards using visual observation, construction knowledge and application of skills.
Ensure Client is getting the products and services specified in the PO, and to ensure the products and services will perform as required.
The Construction Leader must understand the Product of Work (SOW) and ensure the Supplier executes the work according to the SOW, and all applicable Client Specifications and Standards. Any deviations from contract specifications or materials that are identified are to be reported to the Construction Manager and/or Project Manager.
Provide quality inspection reports/status updates to management upon request or as needed.
Provide feedback to contractors, engineers, safety personnel and general management concerning issues or concerns being encountered.
Know and understand Client s Supplemental Terms & Conditions, including a general knowledge of the Safety and Environmental Compliance standards therein, that are expected to be executed successfully by the Supplier.
Qualifications/Experience:
Working knowledge of power generation facilities and supporting processes.
General knowledge of construction and operational field work practices, equipment utilization and work component scheduling.
Demonstrates skill in planning, organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work to meet construction deadlines.
Ability to work effectively with management and co-workers and to make effective decisions.
Skilled in problem solving, attention to detail.
Skilled in comparing construction specifications and material requirements to physical and material work products.
Skilled in reading and interpreting manuals, technical instructions and drawings, with an ability to accurately prepare brief written reports.
Skilled in use of personal computer and Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Familiarity with OSHA industrial safe work practices.
Experience with the development and processing of contract related requisitions.
Experience with P-6 schedules at a user level.
Project coordination experience.
Preferred Years of Experience:
3+ years of industry experience in the field of construction, engineering, and/or management.
Education:
Minimum High School Diploma
