Job Title: Surgical Scheduling Coordinator
Shift: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Department: Urology
Location: New York, NY
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Pay rate: $21/hour on W2 Negotiable
Role Overview:
Responsible for coordinating all operating room (OR) surgeries and procedures, ensuring smooth front office workflow, verifying patient information, obtaining insurance pre-certifications, and facilitating communication between patients, providers, and referring physicians. Acts as a liaison to optimize scheduling and patient care coordination within the Urology department.

Acts as a liaison to optimize scheduling and patient care coordination within the Urology department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate scheduling of all OR surgeries and procedures.
- Monitor and adjust front office workflow to ensure optimal service delivery.
- Verify patient demographics and obtain pre-certification from insurance carriers.
- Obtain patient medical clearance prior to surgeries.
- Address patient inquiries regarding policies and procedures.
- Place surgical confirmation calls one day before scheduled surgeries.
- Schedule post-operative follow-up visits with providers.
- Serve as liaison between referring physicians and surgeons for clinical data communication and scheduling.
- Train and mentor junior Surgical Scheduling Coordinators and staff.
- Collect and distribute necessary paperwork to internal and external parties for surgery coordination.
- Record hospital reservations and pre-admit data in the CERNER system.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Required: High School diploma
- Preferred: Associate’s Degree
- Preferred: Certificates in Medical Terminology, ICD-9, and CPT coding
- Minimum of 2 years in surgical scheduling
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Strong customer relations skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
