Job Description Summary:
The Packer is responsible for accurately weighing, filling, and labeling liquid chemical materials, utilizing various computer systems including MES and SAP for inventory and quality control. The position requires adherence to strict safety protocols, proper equipment usage, and effective communication with the team to ensure a clean and organized work environment. The role requires adherence to quality standards and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accurately transfer liquid chemical materials from pots and portables and fill into containers according to instructions and recipes.
Follow packing procedures including scanning to validate materials, precision weighing using weight assisted computer (WAC), testing scales, using correct scales, etc.
Utilization of computer systems Weight Assisted Computer (WAC); Manufacturing Execution System (MES); and SAP
Use SAP to inventory containers, inputting total actual amount packed, confirm actual pack-out and scrap loss, confirm delivery quantity matches confirmed quantity
Strict adherence to labeling protocol, including printing/reprinting Labels, selecting label sizes according to container types, proper placement of labels on containers, proper disposal of extra or ruined labels
Close containers including, properly crimping containers, and apply tamper evidence seals
Communicate clearly with team and during Tier 0 (shift handover) regarding tank status, packing progress, and any issues encountered (i.e. communicating water temp issues, quality issues, work in progress, materials in stock, etc.)
Proper use of equipment, including using portable pumps, hose & gasket tightening, safely disconnecting utilities from vessels; ensuring grounding and bounding, and use of ventilation exhaust systems.
Restocking Supplies such as pipettes, Alcohol Drum, etc.
Take samples from raw materials and finished product for testing, conduct in-process quality checks using analytic testing equipment, while adhering to Quality Control requirements
Follow protocols for pre-inspection line clearance to ensure equipment is cleaned to meet acceptable quality standards, including inspecting clamps, gaskets, hoses, valves, pots, vessels for cleanliness and checking for grease, oil, and odor
Ensure proper storage of material and their locations (racks, freezers, cold box, and hot box); readdressing containers to proper location, applying first-in first-out (FIFO) standards
Proper use and understanding of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and filling batch sheets
Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and other continuous improvement initiatives.
Strict adherence to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment, eyes and mind on tasks at all times, and be an active contributor to safety culture.
Ensure all required paperwork is completed accurately.
Ensure safe operation of forklift and drum handling equipment.
Maintain work area in a clean and neat manner and in accordance with GMP.
Ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or equivalent or prior experience in a manufacturing environment
1+ year chemical manufacturing experience preferred
1+ year experience with in-process quality testing preferred
Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points)
Must be able to tolerate strong odors and allergens
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to be on your feet for 8-hour shift
Frequently lift a 35 lb. product hose
Frequently move, lift, pull & push up to 50 lbs.
Mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including full face respirator
Work in minimal temperature control environment, exposed to local temperature variations (hot & cold)
Operate standup forklift
