Genetics Specialist Job Description Summary / purpose of the position

The Genetics Specialist will play a crucial role in the development of a genetic panel for use by hepatologists and gastroenterologists. This position involves managing the project from inception to completion, working closely and reporting to the Senior Medical Director of Bylvay in the US Medical Affairs team. The Genetics Specialist, must be an excellent communicator and self-starter, capable of liaising with both internal and external stakeholders.

Main responsibilities / job expectations
Lead the development of a genetic panel
Conduct outreach to genetic testing companies to evaluate existing tests and identify gaps in gene coverage and reporting.
Serve as content expert and project manager for the internal *** task force ensuring to acquire the necessary alignment with all stakeholders
Liaise regularly with Business Ethics and Legal colleagues outside of task force meetings
Engage with KOLs to Product alignment on merits of specific genetic panels
Track budgets and timelines and ensure appropriate processes are followed for internal approval
Comply with all regulatory laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of ***.
Knowledge, abilities & experience Education
Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MS, MPH) in Genetics, Health Services Research, Public Health, Pharmacy or a related field is required.
Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years experience in Medical Genetics and/or Medical Affairs or related field is required
Key Technical Competencies Required
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while remaining flexible.
Proactive with excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to develop realistic plans and recommendations.
Strong communication (both oral and written) and project management skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams, as well as with external partners and vendors.
Broad understanding of genetic testing.
Minimal travel may be required, if at all.
