Job Title: Certified Medical Coder – Outpatient & Emergency Department
Location: Bronx, NY 10461
Duration: 2 months+ (possibility of extension)
Pay Range: $35 – $40/hr. on W2
Shift & Schedule:
- 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- 35 hours/week
- Start Date: 03/16/2026
- 1–2 weeks onsite training; transitions to fully remote
Position Responsibilities:
- Perform accurate medical coding in an acute care hospital setting.
- Assign ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and ICD-9-CM codes using encoder tools.
- Apply coding guidelines, payer requirements, and federal billing regulations.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.
- Research and resolve coding discrepancies or issues.
- Support coder training and quality improvement initiatives.
- Utilize 3M / HDS coding applications for coding and reimbursement.
- Perform Outpatient and Emergency Department (ED) coding.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of coding experience (4+ years preferred).
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10 coding standards.
- ED coding experience mandatory; solid Outpatient coding required.
- Strong Inpatient coding background preferred.
- Proficient in EPIC EMR and 3M coding systems.
- Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Education & Certifications:
- High School Diploma/GED
- AHIMA credentials: RHIA, RHIT, CCP, or CCS required
Work Arrangement:
- Onsite training for 1–2 weeks (flexible based on Hiring Manager discretion)
- Fully remote once responsibilities are mastered
