Job Title: Quality Control Technician
Location: Long Beach, CA 90805
Duration: 3 Months+ (possibility of extension)
Pay Rate: $29/hr. on W2
Shift: 3rd Shift | 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Schedule: 40 hours/week | 5 days/week
Position Overview
The Sterile Processing Quality Control Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of instrument cleanliness, assembly accuracy, and regulatory compliance. This position combines hands-on sterile processing responsibilities with enhanced quality assurance oversight, supporting patient safety and operational excellence beyond standard SPD technician duties.

Position Overview
The Sterile Processing Quality Control Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of instrument cleanliness, assembly accuracy, and regulatory compliance. This position combines hands-on sterile processing responsibilities with enhanced quality assurance oversight, supporting patient safety and operational excellence beyond standard SPD technician duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to ANSI/AAMI standards, manufacturer IFUs, SOPs, and work instructions.
- Perform decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments.
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage prior to sterilization.
- Accurately document missing, damaged, or nonconforming instruments.
- Operate and maintain washers, sterilizers, and related equipment.
- Maintain accurate sterilization, tracking, and inventory documentation.
- Monitor instrument and supply inventory levels.
- Perform routine equipment cleaning and maintenance.
- Maintain clean, organized workspaces in decontamination and assembly areas.
- Communicate effectively with team members, operations, and distribution staff.
- Identify workflow improvements and support continuous quality initiatives.
- Participate in training to maintain certifications and competencies.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced, climate-controlled facility
- Frequent exposure to biohazardous materials
- Extended standing and use of PPE required
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification in Sterile Processing (CRCST or CIS)
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on sterile processing experience
- Strong attention to detail and quality mindset
- Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization techniques, and infection control
- Familiarity with ANSI/AAMI standards and IFUs
- Ability to operate washers, autoclaves, and tracking systems
- Basic computer and documentation skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a quality control or QA-focused SPD role
