Utilizing expertise in radiation safety, technical equipment operation, and procedural protocols, the technologist supports diagnostic, interventional, and peripheral catheterization procedures.

Job Summary:
The Cardiac Cath Technologist assists physicians in obtaining high-quality digital radiographic images of the heart, peripheral vessels, and other required structures. Utilizing expertise in radiation safety, technical equipment operation, and procedural protocols, the technologist supports diagnostic, interventional, and peripheral catheterization procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate radiographic equipment to capture precise images for cardiac and peripheral diagnostics and interventions.
- Pan radiographic tables and adjust x-ray acquisition parameters to optimize visualization of targeted anatomical structures.
- Practice radiation safety through use of appropriate distance, shielding, and protective attire.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge in hemodynamics and various diagnostic/interventional catheterization procedures, including device use and protocols.
- Prepare procedure rooms and equipment daily; perform quality controls and maintain inventory in accordance with JCAHO regulations.
- Document patient data accurately for medical records, reporting, charge entry, and image archiving using Witt, HeartLab, ICE, IVUS, and other systems.
- Provide pre-, intra-, and post-procedural patient care, including maintaining sterile technique and preparing lines/devices for injectable fluids.
- Operate and maintain cardiac cath lab equipment, troubleshoot malfunctions, and initiate service requests as needed.
- May assume lead worker responsibilities such as training, educating staff, and assigning work duties.
- Manage patient information efficiently to support effective care and optimal clinical outcomes.
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of all laboratory data and report any variances to physicians promptly.
Required Education:
One of the following is required:
- Graduation from a Radiologic Science program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health and Accreditation.
- Graduation from a special procedures program.
- Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Completion of a course in cardiac catheterization (transcripts required).
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- Certification in Radiation Therapy through ARRT OR
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification through CCI.

Work Schedule:
- 40 hours per week, 10 hours per day, 4 days per week.
- May require on-call standby status and one weekend call per month.
