Job Title: Clinical Ambulatory Services Rep II
Job Location: Houston, TX
Job Duration: 3-4 Months (possibility of extension)
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Job Summary:

  • This is a dual Medical Assistant II and Ambulatory Services Rep II role responsible for both clinical and non-clinical duties.
  • The role will provide patient care and excellent customer service in the client setting.
  • To assist in the coordination of flow and provider schedules to effectively manage patient care.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Welcomes and interacts with all patients, families, and visitors in a professional, timely, age appropriate, and culturally sensitive manner.
  • Responds to customer questions with prompt information and/or service related to appointment status, wait time, or unanticipated problems.
  • Communicates with patient, staff, and providers regarding patient arrivals, delays, and clinical processes.
  • Proactively approaches dissatisfied customers and implements customer service recovery measures.
  • Identifies prolonged wait times for patients in waiting room and reports to clinic manager.
  • Obtain translation services as needed for customers.
  • Participates in meetings to assist in planning optimal patient flow for session/day.
  • Attends staff meetings or signs attendance records for reading of minutes and attends mandatory training and development activities by established guidelines as evidenced by supervisory observation and written/verbal feedback.
  • Notifies licensed staff or supervisor when unable to complete assigned tasks or responsibilities.
  • This person will room (so must be a MA) and does scheduling/ordering for the department.
  • The candidate will work 40 hours per week, on site. Person will also be expected to float to other departments for rooming if census is low in wound.

Required Education:

  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education:

  • College degree in related field.

  • CCMA - Cert-Cert Clinical MA -CCMA from NHCA.
  • OR - CMA-AAM - Cert-Cert Medical Assistant from American Association of Medical Assistant.
  • OR - CMA-C – Clinical Medical Assistant Certification from AMCA.
  • OR - EMT – Emergency Medical Technology from Texas Department of State Health Services.
  • OR - EMT-A - Advanced EMT from Texas Department of State Health Services.
  • OR - EMT-B - Emergency Medical Technology -Basic from Texas Department of State Health Services.
  • OR - EMT-I - Emergency Medical Technology -Inter medical from Texas Department of State Health Services.
  • OR - EMT-P - Emergency Medical Technology - Paramedical from Texas Department of State Health Services.
  • OR - LIC PAR - License -Paramedic from Texas Department of State Health Services.
  • OR - NCMA - National Cert Med Assistant from National Center for Competency Testing.
  • OR - NRCMA - Nat Reg Cert Med Assistant from National Association of Health Professionals.
  • OR - RMA-AAH : American Allied Health from American Allied Health.
  • OR - RMA-AAMP : American Association of Medical Personnel.
  • OR - RMA-AMT : American Medical Technologist from American Medical Technologist.
  • OR - RMA-ARMA : American Registry of Medical Assistants from American Registry of Medical Assistants.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Two (2) years of experience in a clinical/direct patient care setting.
  • Knowledge of nursing/medical assistant patient care tasks, the managed care industry, appointment scheduling, related medical terminology and customer service concepts.
  • The ability to operate proficiently a personal computer and basic clinic/patient care, office equipment.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills; demonstrate good verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate good time management skills and provide excellent customer service skills.
  • The ability to demonstrate quick decision making and self-initiated work behaviors is necessary.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Two (2) years of experience in a healthcare setting and customer service-focused industry.
  • Outpatient clinic operations experience.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English.
