Job Title: Specimen Processing Technician I
Job Location: Marlborough, MA
Job Duration: 4 Months+ Contract with Possible Extension
Shift: Mon - Fri with Saturday rotation. Every 4th week, schedule will require 1 Saturday in lieu of a Tue, Wed, or Thu.
Pay range: $19 - $26 per hour. on W2
Duties:
• Perform general specimen processing tasks including A-station operations, presort, centrifugation, aliquoting, imaging, and microfilming.
• Accurately and efficiently perform data entry of specimen information (minimum of 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour).
• Pick up and deliver processed specimens to the laboratory as required.
• Maintain productivity and quality standards in a high-volume production environment.
• Follow all safety protocols and maintain compliance with biohazard handling procedures.
• Communicate effectively with all levels of staff to ensure smooth workflow and timely task completion.
• Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety and operational policies.
• Demonstrate flexibility to adapt to changes in daily operations, priorities, and workload.
• Adhere to company values, compliance regulations, and departmental performance standards.
Education:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience & Qualifications:
• Basic computer proficiency; data entry experience preferred.
• No prior lab experience required, though previous specimen processing or hospital laboratory work is preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and laboratory test processes is an advantage.
• Experience working in a production or fast-paced environment preferred.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required.
Work Environment:
• Production-based environment focused on accuracy, speed, and quality.
• Exposure to biohazard materials — must always practice good safety habits.
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
• Requires flexibility for night shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as departmental needs arise.
