Job Description: Job Summary
The Application Lab Technician:
Creates and/or executes lab experiments for internal and external customers. Participates in driving growth in the product line/market by participating in customer collaboration. Provides input on application development* and product commercialization. Understands the product line/market and begins to impact customer innovation programs. Applies value proposition and commercialization concepts. Begins to participate in field trials via lab test work. Replicates* and develops product/market applications leveraging e-tools as appropriate. Continues to build knowledge of industry standards, practices, and regulations; harnesses insights from market and customer process expertise. Provides support and services for existing, improved, or new products, applications, or technologies that can have significant impact potential at a program level. Develops networks within Client and the customer base.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
1. Technical Contributions. Completes self-initiated and assigned technical activities leading to new application replication* that can have significant impact potential at a program level. Utilizes understanding of project Product, expectations, and requirements to suggest future direction based on results. Applies technical skills to provide support and services to external customers and one or more of the following: application development*, internal customers, product localization/converting, technology development, process development, life cycle management, manufacturing support, quality, and product support. Provides product and application support to customers to expand opportunities and reduce risks. Participates as a project team member in customer inspired innovation and insights to innovation programs. Has a fundamental understanding of appropriate industry standards, practices and regulations. May participate in areas such as general cost reduction and quality improvement efforts. Analyzes and interprets results of customer trials. Participates in customer field trials via lab based experiments.

2. Interactions. Interacts with other personnel within assigned business. Develops and establishes network of resources to facilitate completion of assignments. Applies available information resources and systems including utilizing working knowledge and understanding of laboratory, manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing functions and interfaces. Participates on project teams. Demonstrates customer relation skills and an understanding of their processes, requirements, and applications. Clearly communicates value of new/unique/differentiating features of Client products and services to customers (internal or external).
3. Leadership. Participates in identifying tasks, providing estimates of time to complete tasks and contributing to subteams. May be responsible for providing functional work direction and/or training to other technical employees, contract workers, tech aides, etc. May lead projects or subteams to complete assigned tasks. May conduct training to customers and/or business teams leveraging appropriate media and e-tools.
4. Intellectual Property. May contribute to the development of intellectual property processes and positions, including Invention Submission, patents, trade Products, etc. Documents experimental data/observations in reports, technical notebooks or electronic files.
5. Communications. Communicates results of assigned and self-initiated technical tasks to the respective business group and/or appropriate technical community. Communicates relevant findings to external parties/customers as appropriate. Prepares reports, presentations, and other written documents.
6. Corporate Initiatives. Builds a working knowledge of key corporate or division initiatives and applies appropriate tools to the job function.
7. Strategic Planning. May provide customer viewpoint and influence strategy at the business team level. The job also requires performing other duties as assigned.
