High Level Project Overview:
- We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Systems Engineer who specializes in Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP). The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our container orchestration platforms, ensuring their optimal performance, scalability, and reliability in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- The candidate will also be a member of a larger VM administration and server administration team and will assist with managing and troubleshooting infrastructure issues related to server OS and virtualization platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform environments.
- Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to ensure seamless integration and secure deployment practices.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize the platform for high availability and resilience.
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, deployment, and monitoring of containerized applications.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures for maintaining platform security, compliance, and best practices.
- Provide guidance and training to other engineers on container orchestration platforms and related technologies and develop related documentation.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to Kubernetes, containerization, and cloud-native architectures.
- Provide supplemental VMWare vSphere support: deployment and configuration of ESXi hosts, storage and performance monitoring, and performing security updates.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation and respond to issues with VM infrastructure and server OS tickets
- Proven expertise in managing and operating Kubernetes platforms, especially Red Hat OpenShift environments. Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKG)
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes architecture, components, and ecosystem, including hands-on experience with kubectl, Helm, and other Kubernetes tools.
- Experience with CI/CD tools and practices, including Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
- Experience with supporting other virtualization platforms (VMWare vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive and collaborative approach to troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in software systems engineering, with a focus on container orchestration platforms.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) certification.
- Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration.
- Familiarity with security best practices for containerized applications and Kubernetes environments, including role-based access control (RBAC) and network policies.
- Experience with database management systems (DBMS) in a Kubernetes context, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, ArangoDB, or MongoDB.
- Experience in agile development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud architectures.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Ability to lead, collaborate, or work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalency (required)
- Preference for candidates in with experience with the utility industry or other regulated industry
