Duration: 6+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM | Rotational Saturdays, 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Job Summary
The Entry Phlebotomist I / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the organization’s first point of contact for patients, delivering compassionate, professional, and attentive service. This role focuses on greeting patients, assisting with check-in processes, maintaining a clean and organized waiting area, and supporting phlebotomy staff during breaks.
As part of a structured development pathway, the Entry PSR I will receive phlebotomy training and is expected to learn specimen collection skills to support long-term career growth within the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients promptly and courteously upon arrival, addressing questions and concerns with empathy and professionalism.
- Assist patients with check-in procedures using self-service kiosks or handheld tablets.
- Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and overall presentation of the lobby/waiting area at all times.
- Explain procedures and visit expectations to patients in a clear, reassuring, and accurate manner.
- Provide coverage for breaks when other phlebotomists are unavailable.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and confidentiality of patient information.
- Follow daily workflows and tasks assigned by the area supervisor, completing all duties accurately and on time.
- Participate fully in training to develop phlebotomy skills, including proper venipuncture techniques, specimen collection, and specimen processing.
- Once trained, perform both forensic and clinical specimen collection according to established protocols and safety standards.
- Uphold company values, policies, safety requirements, and professional conduct standards.
Job Requirements
- Strong customer service abilities and the ability to assist patients with compassion and efficiency.
- Willingness to learn phlebotomy and take part in skill development during downtime or when needed for coverage.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable transportation to/from the worksite — rideshare, bus, or drop-offs are not considered reliable.
- MUST be punctual, available for scheduled shifts, and able to work full shift hours consistently.
- Must live within a 20–25 minute commute to ensure consistent on-time attendance.
- Excessive tardiness or absenteeism will result in termination.
- If a current student, the school schedule must not conflict with the required shift.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- 1–2 years of customer-facing experience required (retail, home health aide, hospitality, service industry, etc.).
- No prior phlebotomy experience required — full training will be provided.
- Keyboarding/data entry experience required.
Important Notes
- This is a front-of-house role with mandatory training in phlebotomy.
- Candidates interested ONLY in a greeter or front-desk role should not apply.
- The role is essential to maintaining an organized, safe, supportive waiting area and delivering high-quality patient service from check-in to completion of care.
