Location:Clifton, NJ
Duration: 6 Months
Shift: Su-Th; 9am-530pm
Pay rate: 25.00
Job Title: Laboratory Assistant / Specimen Processor
Summary:
Perform daily laboratory activities in a precise and accurate manner to assist professional laboratory staff and facilitate production.
Job Responsibilities:

Sort and receive specimens in the department.

Perform routine instrument maintenance on some equipment.
-
Centrifuge specimens, print extra labels, record data (e.g., temperature charts), and handle specimen storage and retrieval.

Prepare reagents and/or media in the department.

Prepare specimens at workstations for testing, including building worklists, aliquoting specimens into sample cups, checking specimens for clots and fibrin, inoculation, and slide preparation.

Perform QA/QC duties as assigned.

Resolve pending lists and locate missing samples.

Decontaminate work areas.

Perform weekly radioactive wipe tests.

Maintain files for department records.

Change gas cylinders as needed.

Follow all PPE requirements and safety regulations.

Use the laboratory computer system and operate PCs.

Dispose of biohazardous material properly.

Complete training and competency checklists as appropriate.
Education:
-
High school diploma or equivalent.
-
Medical assistant training helpful.
-
Math and science courses preferred.
Work Experience:
