Job Description:
The role focuses on the research and development of products from concept to retail, ensuring they meet both account and consumer needs. The Technical Designer will:
- Collaborate with Marketing and Design to translate design concepts into two-dimensional patterns.
- Consult with product teams to clarify concepts and provide pattern-making and fit expertise.
- Create first models from concept sketches and incorporate styling and fit changes during design and fit sessions.
- Inspect and critique samples, making necessary adjustments to achieve design intent and functionality.
- Create and revise product specifications with detailed construction methods that optimize profitability.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as a Technical Designer in pattern making.
- Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of directly relevant work experience/ Alternatives accepted: PhD or Law + 3 yrs; Master’s + 4 yrs; Associate’s Degree + 6 yrs; High School + 7 yrs.
- Ability to start patterns from scratch or adjust existing ones, with a focus on women’s athletic wear.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction for knits (wovens experience acceptable, but knits preferred).
- Ability to perform functional, athlete-facing work while representing the brand.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience with performance wear, outerwear, dresses, and skirts.
- Familiarity with tools such as PDM, PCX, PLM, and web-based record-keeping/commenting systems.
- Demonstrates strong pattern-making knowledge.
- Includes examples of previous relevant work and showcases complexity in pattern design.
