Position Summary:
- The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) is the primary point of contact for patients and represents the company in a professional and compassionate manner. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens and preparing them for laboratory testing while following established procedures. The PSR I creates a safe, trusting, and respectful environment for patients, explaining procedures clearly and performing specimen collection accurately and efficiently. This position emphasizes leadership behaviors, process excellence, patient confidentiality, and data accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor
- Draw quality blood samples using proper clinical and forensic collection techniques
- Prepare and process specimens according to established procedures
- Explain procedures to patients and ensure comfort and confidence during collection
- Maintain accurate records and required documentation
- Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with all safety and regulatory standards
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment
- Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to deliver high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Proficient keyboarding and data entry skills
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts as needed
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Medical training preferred (Medical Assistant or Paramedic)
- Phlebotomy certification preferred
- Required in California, Nevada, and Washington
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 6 months phlebotomy experience required
- 1+ year phlebotomy experience preferred
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience preferred (phlebotomy and/or healthcare environment).
