Department: Visitor Screening – Main Entrances (COVID-19 Visitor Screening)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Shift & Schedule: Days: Monday to Friday (Every Other Weekend & Holidays Required)
Hours: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Hours Per Week: 37.5
Hours Per Day: 7.5
Hourly rate: $19/hour on W2 (Negotiable)
Role Overview:
The Patient Coordinator I is responsible for greeting patients either in-person or over the phone, updating and verifying insurance/demographic information, managing appointment scheduling, and ensuring patients are prepared for their visit. This role supports smooth front-desk and call center operations in a healthcare setting, specifically assisting with COVID-19 visitor screening operations.

This role supports smooth front-desk and call center operations in a healthcare setting, specifically assisting with COVID-19 visitor screening operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and verify/update insurance and demographic information.
- Confirm physician participation in patient’s insurance and perform pre-visit insurance verification.
- Ensure medical records are available for the physician upon patient arrival.
- Process HIPAA and institutional paperwork.
- Collect referrals or authorizations as needed.
- Monitor waiting room status and communicate waiting times to patients.
- Collect co-pays and issue receipts following cash control procedures.
- Schedule follow-up appointments and guide patients on medical record requests.
- Perform basic charge entry or payment entry; may assist in preparing deposits (duties are mutually exclusive).
- Answer phones and schedule appointments.
- Initiate reminder calls for next-day appointments as needed.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and ensure proper handling of PHI.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a physician practice or medical office.
- Experience using a practice management system (IDX preferred).
Skills:
- Strong keyboarding and computer navigation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including telephone etiquette.
- Ability to work effectively with multicultural and limited-English-speaking patients.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is strongly preferred.
- Must be adaptable to a dynamic, fast-paced healthcare environment.
- On-site training for one week is provided.
