Job Description: The Paralegal I provides legal support to the in-house legal team at Client. The Paralegal I researches and analyzes law, investigates facts, conducts and coordinates document collections, and prepares and maintains legal documents for review, approval, and use. The incumbent communicates with various internal and external contacts (including outside counsel), prepares business correspondence and reports, and assists with the organization and maintenance of Company documents and department files. The Paralegal I is supervised by attorneys on legal matters, and requires the use of independent judgment to make recommendations to legal staff on a variety of matters.
Primary responsibility is the intake, response, and coordination of the Company s subpoenas. Also responsible for administrative assistance as needed ranging from mail intake, drafting letters, scheduling and preparing meetings, typing, expense reports, and projects as requested.
Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in lieu of degree required. Requires a minimum of one (1) - three (3) years of paralegal experience.
Paralegal certification from ABA accredited paralegal program preferred. Applicable work experience at a law firm or with a corporate in-house legal team in lieu of Paralegal certification will be considered.
Experience in a highly regulated industry preferred. Working knowledge of New Jersey litigation practice preferred. Proficiency in the use of personal computers and supporting software in a Windows based environment including MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Knowledgeable in the use of legal research software and databases.
Works as part of a team and is highly collaborative. Self-starter with multi-tasking abilities. Must be proactive and accountable.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
